“Dork Diaries” is a story about an ordinary middle school girl, Nikki Maxwell, who shares her experiences through diary notes and sketches. Being a fan of the Nikki series for so long, I could not wait to read the newest book and find out what new things Nikki would get herself into.
I was not let down as the book provided the same physical comedy, the realistic view of life in middle school and the characters’ empathy that made Dork Diaries a favorite read for kids. I have to say that Nikki’s experiences and responses are quite typical and, at points, this story definitely resonated with me. That’s why many problems in the book are solved, but in a funny way So, the viewer is not bored while reading “Dork Diaries”.
Chloe and Zoey are Nikki’s friends, so they make the most out of simple situations, and MacKenzie is Nikki’s main rival. The interpersonal connections between the characters are believable, so it is very simple to turn into a fan of the characters and wish them well. The comedic rarely at the serious moments coupled with genuinely touching scenes make it an essential read for anyone in search of light and entertaining read. For the supporters of the series and for those who decided to get acquainted with the books of Jim C., I surely can highly recommend this one, it is fun and entertaining from the beginning till the end.
